Ironhack final project: onboarding for a document intelligence API.

Here you'll find the brief, the four tasks I owned in a team of three, the screens I designed and how they grew from sketch to hi-fi. The full process is in the case study.

01The brief

This was my final project for the Ironhack UX/UI Design Bootcamp: a two-week sprint with a real client, Kreuzberg. I worked in a team of three UX/UI designers: Niveditha, Luisa and me.

Kreuzberg is a document intelligence platform that extracts content from 75 file formats through a single API, across 11 programming languages. Its managed service was about to go public with no login, no onboarding and no dashboard. Our job was to design the experience that takes a developer from first impression to a first successful API call, as fast as possible.

My part

Task 1

01

Interviews and synthesis

I led and observed interviews with five backend and full-stack developers, then synthesised what we heard.

Task 2

02

Onboarding modals

A new user is invited straight into the sandbox, with three clear steps and an easy way to skip.

Task 3

03

The sandbox

All supported formats up front, one big drop zone, and a tip on how it works in production.

Task 4

04

Dashboard guided tour

The guided tour spotlights one area at a time: page quota, free early-access allowance, billing.

02What I did

The first two minutes, designed.

Onboarding modals

A new user is invited straight into the sandbox, with three clear steps and an easy way to skip.

The sandbox

Output in Markdown or JSON, with processing time and metadata. Then an invite to the dashboard tour.

Dashboard guided tour

The guided tour spotlights one area at a time: page quota, free early-access allowance, billing.

03Conclusion

Developers don't need hand-holding. They need the right information at the right moment.

The aha moment isn't a feature. It's confidence, earned through clarity.

Designing for trust means designing for transparency.

What was hard

The friction

  • Developer jargon
  • A two-week deadline
  • Three designers, one consistent product
How I got through

The fix

  • AI tools
  • Tight feedback loops
  • A shared style guide in Figma
  • Q&A with Kreuzberg's co-founder on the tech
What's next

Next steps

  • Validate with hi-fi testing
  • Accessibility and responsiveness
  • Explore an AI assistant
The result

Most Engaging Presentation.
